12 Months Old

Happy Birthday Bodie! Bodie turned 1 year old on Christmas Eve. i decided to make the morning extra special for him since he was born in the morning...so i made PW's cinnamon rolls with Maple Coffee icing....YUUUUMMMMM....i ate about 3 of them...or 4....and then sent one tin with Ruthie up to her parents house and the other tin went to my aunt's house later that evening...i am thinking that this will have to be a tradition...because i will probably be craving them at least once a year! Bryan also made an amazing breakfast and we feasted and Bodie opened some presents...a wood stacking toy and a stuffed panda from Ruth - he really could care less about any of the toys i got him. Bryan got him a plastic golf set from Roger Dunn, and he has not parted with the driver since. great! now i have 3 golf crazed men in my life...awesome. We had a very nice relaxing morning and just hung out and played. it was so nice to not to have to be anywhere (well not until 5 anyway) and we could just be together (which happens much more rarely than one would think) - it was a very very special birthday and Christmas Eve. Probably my favorite one (apart from last year's of course!) Bodie is walking like crazy now! the farthest he has gone is 5 steps, but he attempts it all the time now and is so stable standing up...you can tell he is enjoying this new feat of his as well. he seemed to pick up quite a bit of confidence over the past couple days!

i realize i never posted my labor story and if i get a moment i would like to...we were talking about that day a lot this past week and it makes me sad i never documented it well...it should be documented. it was an amazing day. Pics of Christmas to follow as well. Bryan got a new lens for Christmas and has been testing it out ever since : )

Bodie 11 Months

well...just one more month...until you probably start to walking and are no longer my baby...and you can have dairy...and face forward in your car seat - oh wait, we already did that...dont tell the fuzz...

we know that your favorite song is Boom Boom Pow - it can get you to dance and be happy no matter what kind of fit you throw. You like to talk more - you regularly say "da duh" (all done) and mama and dada and "keeee" (kitty) and "DUHN" (dont - with a finger sticking up in the air)

your little bottom teeth are cutting as i type...they arent your favorite teeth so far...i think they are giving you a bit of trouble...you are pretty amazing in the car and you generally dont mind being in there...unless of course for long trips after you have already napped...like to San Jose for instance :) but you did amazingly on our last Thanksgiving trip up there.

your favorite time of day is still bath time. i have no clue how much you weigh, but if i had to guess i would say my back thinks you are about 23 or 24 pounds. you are struggling in the ergo facing me - you much prefer it on my back - this is evidenced by the way you throw your back so that you are upside down. this is not fun for my back...but fun for you...i guess.

you are so sweet to your brother - you light up when he is around and he is getting better at engaging you without hurting or scaring you...which is a step forward. i promise.

10 Months Old

i havent put this post up because i intended to take a better picture of bodie with the elephant...but that is clearly not going to happen these days...plus this is too good a reflection of the state of our life right now i had to document it...see bryson "helping" with the photo shoot...see the struggle...for attention...always...wonder where he gets it...but don't start "poor Bodie-ing" he fights back...he is a little bull this one...so sweet but struh-rong...

so 10 months...he likes to say "da-kow" that is his favorite word. he now has 5 teeth...that top left incisor doesnt want to make its appearance yet, which makes for quite a cute grill....he is sleeping better and brother and him have slept in the same room approximately 5 times now...which is an improvement...he is starting to take a bottle, which is also a new thing...not from me of course - he still loves to nurse, but it is sorta like nursing a bobcat i would imagine...if i had to nurse a bobcat...he is an "active" nurser lets just say...he is starting to play games like peek-a-boo...he is signing "all done" and "more" and "kitty". he took 2 steps last week!!! he is balancing standing every day and it is getting for longer and longer intervals...bryan likes to encourage this and i see it happening and put stop right away to it! i am not ready for him to no longer be a baby...his favorite time of day is bath time...he loves to splash and loves it when brother joins him...he is just such a joy to us and our little family and we are so blessed because of him!

9 Months Old!

Bodie O, Bodie Blue, Booga Man, Face, Bro-yer...you are 9 months old today...3/4 of a year...same amount of time on the outside as you were in...well...you aren't too happy about that fact today...you are sick, again. with a nasty flu bug...you can thank your brother...he likes to touch nasty stuff and pick his nose...you will do this too i am sure :) 

This month you started to notice daddy! da-da-da-da...big smiles and *kisses* even...big wet open mouth yummy kisses - the best kind! you also are still pushing out those honkin' front teeth! that means drool....lots and lots and lots of drool! you started doing your first signs - "all done" and you wave hi and goodbye. daddy swears you say "dut" for dirt...and "dunt" for dont...but i'm not so sure...i think that is more you copying us...but who knows - maybe daddy's right...i have no doubt you are a genus!

you also say the cutest "uh-oh" when you drop something - you laugh like crazy whenever you pull my hair and try to fit my face in your mouth.

it was your first time in the church nursery this month...for church and for MOPS - you did great! all the ladies were impressed by your muscle mass and  your skills...i guess they found out about your iron grip the hard way :)

we weighed you when you went to see auntie at her office so she could check on you - you weigh 21 pounds - 28 inches long...you are floating more to the center of the growth chart...but too bad they dont check muscle mass because you are just a big muscle!

i hope you are finally over this Booga Man because we have missed you around here! Lovin you to pieces!
Mama

8 Months Old

Bodie - you are 8 months old today! wuu! some things i am noticing more and more about you

1. you are a mama's boy! you like to fuss if someone is holding you when i am around and when i take you from that person and walk away you look at them and smile...its really quite rude...and funny at the same time...

2. you are sitting up and moving around and balancing with more ease. i suspect you will be walking in no time...which makes me very nervous!

3. your front teeth just cut this weekend

4. you do not wish to take a pacifier any longer...you would much rather use mommy for a pacifier, which has made mommy very uncomfortable!!

5. you are very happy with bread - anything bread - cheerios, bagels...you are very eeehhh on the fruits and vegetables, but we manage to get it in you somehow!

6. you still wake a couple times a night and have now moved into brother's room (minus brother who now sleeps in our room because he is so scared to wake you) you are a light sleeper now...

7. you do not like to travel - you do not like new places - you protest this by staying up all night and not sleeping...

8. you have the most charming head tilt/smile - gets me every time! brother can get you to crack up and mommy can too when she squeezes your chubby little thighs!

9. we love you more and more each day Bo Bear!

7 Months Old

Bodie...you are now 7 months old. yay! this month you started eating...solids...a lot more regularly. you have tried so many different types of food - you even recently started eating/gumming the little fruit grain puff things. you seem to love anything bread-ish - love gumming foods like carrots and celery and teething biscuits and our fingers...





this is the month you finally got over your cough! your first trip to see auntie sara at her office and she prescribed you antibiotics which helped you get better! this has also helped you sleep better, which mommy is VERY thankful for! we moved you into a "crib" by our bed since you crawled out of the co-sleeper and it has vastly improved on your waking up every 1-2 hours. last night you slept from 8 until 5 a.m. and the night before you slept till 6 a.m. - (i'm not holding my breath but relishing in the new sleeping arrangements!)









also...this happened...and happens...a lot. you have taken a lot of spills because you can't quite seem to exit the standing mode so gracefully, but you are trying to pull yourself up to standing anywhere you can...mostly to get to me...i am not a fan of this by the way young man...this is way too soon to be doing this...this makes me very nervous that you might start walking before 1 year...please don't do that...please!!!! i like carrying you around - it is so much easier on mommy...once you start walking that is over!

it is so much fun to watch you grow and figure things out and learn to call out "mamammaa" and "dadadada" and start becoming a little person. your spirit is so full of love and tenderness we can't help but be melted by your smile every day! you are a joy Bodie Owen!

6 Months Old

Bodie you are 6 months old! i can't believe it...so much has happened this month - you've been quite busy! in the past month you have started/learned to:
1. scootch/crawl - you have figured out how to get where you want to go - the other day you scooted out of the office down the hall and into brother's room!
2. sit up - you will sit by yourself for a few seconds and usually fall to the side, but you are putting those abs to work!
3. TOOTH! you are cutting your first teeth right now...you are the most drooly baby ever...your right one has cut through and you can feel the little nub and the left one is about to poke out any day now!
4. FOOD! this month you started really showing an interest in solids - you have eaten the following: rice cereal, pears, bananas, carrots, peaches, apricots, avocados, mango, strawberries...you aren't too sure about any of it but you for sure are partial to bananas and carrots :)

5. TALK! you are saying/making sounds more directly. you like to say maaaa maaaa for me and da da for daddy. you also like to make rasberries as often as you can.


sad to say your sleeping has not gotten much better, but that could be because you have been fighting a cold for so long only to get better than get a cold again! now you are teething, so mommy is preparing for a strain of sleepless nights!

you also went on your first camping trip to Table Mountain for our TMAFI fishing trip. you did so well! you slept with us in our sleeping bag and camped like a pro! you were NOT a fan of the boat or your lifevest or fishing that day, but little did i know you were working on that tooth cutting! poor baby!

you still love your brother and he and daddy both have the knack to make you crack up...i just wish they wouldn't do it right before your bedtime :)

5 Months Old

Bodie - you are already 5 months old! I won't say how i can't believe it or how fast this goes because that is really overstated...but sheesh...5 months already! this month you have been really making yourself known - who can blame you - you have Bryson to compete with :)

You found your toes on our trip to Modesto - and they are pretty cool i guess because every time i put you on your back, in your mouth they go. you are pretty ticklish and mommy and daddy can get you belly laughing - brother likes to blow on your stomach and dance around you when you are in the walker to get you to laugh. Mommy loves it when he does this while she is trying to cook dinner!

We weighed you last week and you were 18 lbs 1 oz. I think your Moby days are over because i tried to carry you around while errand shopping this week and you started sinking - i had to adjust it 3 times! that's okay though because you love the Ergo just fine...in fact most of the day you are there if i have you and big brother.

you caught a little cough/cold this last month and it has thrown your sleeping way off. gone are the nights of long sleep stretches - you now wake every 3 hours max - more like every 2 hours. you also are not a fan of being alone during the night - you prefer me to hold you ALL night long...which i can't because you are so heavy you make my arm fall asleep. i am hoping this is a temporary illness thing...

you are growing so big we had to buy a new carseat because your shoulders were too big for the infant seat's belts! you have entered the awkward baby phase where you can't sit up unsupported and are too big to be carried in the infant seat, so therefore you are held constantly...which you don't mind one bit :)

we got bryson's old walker down from the garage and cleaned it up for you - which is your new favorite thing...we also like to "shop" in bryson's baby toy bin - you are fascinated with all the toys and grabbing and discovering. you also like to discover my plate every time i eat - this month we also let you taste for the first time. you aren't too sure about the whole thing, but judging by your size, we think you will catch on pretty quickly!

4 months old

bodie -you are 4 months old today! it seems like you have all of the sudden woken up this month and are all of the sudden HERE! you respond to everyone and flirt with anyone who gives you attention- much to the delight of check-out ladies everywhere...you are grabbing like crazy - mostly my hair...i find it in your fists constantly. when you nurse you pet my breastbone and it is so sweet. speaking of nursing...you recently have been wanting to do it every hour to hour and a half - maybe a growth spurt? your appetite seems to be very healthy. at night you typically do a nice 6 hour sleep and then continue to nurse every 2 hours after that...you are in bed with us so it isn't that big of a deal, but you waking combined with your brother waking (2-3 times per night this week) is making mommy TIRED! speaking of brother - you love it when brother blows on your stomach and entertains you. he also loves taking care of you and insists on bathing you whenever you need it...which is often since you spit up and drool quite frequently! you rolled over completely from back to stomach for the first time a week ago and we are finding we need to strap you in to wherever you are because you are a squirmy baby!

you are also very strong and prefer to stand on our laps to work your muscles - a linebacker in the making! but don't get any ideas...i won't let you play football ever...sorry...it goes against all my mommy sense! daddy calls you "face" because your face tends to light up a room - it goes from dead serious to an all encompassing grin in the matter of seconds. you are still an easy-going baby...unless you are hungry...then you get mad/sad and even produce tears if you aren't fed within a minute. its a good thing your food is just a heartbeat away because i don't think you would tolerate any delay in feeding! you are such a joy of a baby and i am loving every second of you - i have wished i could stop time on several an occasion! but despite my repeated requests you continue to GROW - you are now in 12 month clothes...with your cloth diapers you can not even be squeezed into 9 month clothes, you kinda skipped the whole 6-9 mo category...

i am not sure if you are teething or just always desire something to be in your mouth every second because when you are in anyone's lap you grab at their hands and put them in your mouth. it is the best when you start talking at this point.

you are typically taking 3 naps a day - if i can time it right you take a good ol' long one around 3 that lasts a couple hours. you wake in the morning so happy and make it so easy to get up and we are all truly blessed that you are around!

PS - you are wearing Happy Heinys diapers here - size large...which i love the fit of...but their liners stink...so i use fuzzi bunz liners and they work amazing!

3 Months Old

Bodie - you are 3 months old today!

You Weigh: 15 lbs 3 oz

You are 25 inches Long

You Like it When: Brother does rasberries on your stomach, when Daddy holds you out in front of him and makes silly faces, when Mommy gives you kisses

You Don’t Like it When: I try to pick out boogers from your nose, Brother pushes you too hard on your swing, When you get woken up and when you are sick :(

Your Favorite Things: you like the blanket I made you - you like to cover your face in it when you are tired and want to nap - it freaks mommy out, but you do it every time and love it! You still love to be swaddled, but you break out every time! you love the swing!

What You Can Do Now: you can roll over, you are engaging with us all more, you found your toes the other day, you splash when you are in the tub, you are getting better at grabbing, you are holding your head up all the time!~

How You Sleep: you have been sleeping great....then you got sick - you got your first fever 2 weeks ago...got better for a couple days...got a fever again...got better for a week and last night you had a fever again. you have been a trooper, but not the best sleeper...which is understandable, but please get better soon so mommy can sleep a little too, k? you have insisted in sleeping in my arms, which is nice because you are so cuddly, but you are also HEAVY! you make my arm fall asleep!

2 Months Old

Bodie - you are 2 months old today. you are growing so much! probably due to the fact of how great an eater you are! you nurse about every 2-3 hours during the day (more like 2) and have been sleeping loooong stretches at night - you usually go down around 10pm and wake around 4 or 5. i thank you for that. you at 2 months sleep better than your brother at 3 years...which is a little indication of how different you two are already! you are in love with your brother. anytime he talks to you and says "goo" you immediately burst into a smile. you rolled over the other day and you are so muscly...anyone that holds you immediately comments on how strong you are - how big you are - and most comment on how much you look like daddy. you have a contagious smile - you glow when you smile and you smile a lot! i dont think i have heard you cry in about 2 weeks...you still prefer to grunt, which is amazing - i didn't know that was possible! you love the moby and usually live inside there during the day. you like to make cute noises and don't mind being held by anyone...so long as you are being held. you are such a joy of a baby and make me want to have 10 more...okay maybe not 10, but i definitely want another as soon as you aren't a baby anymore because i am loving this so much!

One Month Old

Bodie Bo, Bodie Blue, Bodie-Odie-O...you are one month old already! Happy 1/12th of your birthday! You are such a happy baby - you smile when daddy lets you jump off of him or when i give you loud kisses. you rarely cry but you often grunt. you have many different grunts- your hungry grunt, your nursing grunt, your middle of the night grunts, your "moby" grunts, your happy grunts...i am stilll learning them all and still studying which ones can be left alone and which need attention! for the most part, you are happy to sit with me in the office and keep me company while i do terribly boring stuff like taxes. you are strong too - you can hold your head up for a long time and are liking to use your legs a lot! you are a great eater and like to eat every 2 hours during the day, but you give me a break at night (thanks for that by the way) and go for 4 hour stretches usually. you are growing out of control - you are wearing 3-6 month clothes, size 2 diapers - size medium in cloth, and you almost are too big for your moses basket. you are starting to look a lot like daddy especially when you make your serious face - the one with the one eyebrow - the one you made right when you were born and looked at us with your sweet face for the first time. your big brother loves you and is such a great helper - he always wants to help give you a bath and get your diapers for me and smother you with kisses. today he tried to cheer you up with his "sticky sticky bubblegum" song...we can't imagine our world without you and are enjoying you in our lives tremendously. you are such a blessing and there is nothing i enjoy more these days than watching you and staring into your sweet face.

3.5 Weeks

i'm sorry...i know i keep saying it, but i really can not get over how big this boy is. i told sue that its not fair because i only had a newborn for a couple of days. this kid is like a 2 or 3 month old in so many ways - in the way he holds his neck up...his facial expressions...his smiles (true reactive smiles, not gassy smiles -i know the difference i swear! he even laughed once...true story)...the way he nurses...how he sleeps (another 5 hour stretch last night)...the clothes he wears...

Bodie is a lot of fun and i am trying to keep my eyes open enough to soak it all in because i know how too soon it will be over...way too soon! I mean...look at this face!

2 Weeks Old

Bodie is 2 weeks old today. It is crazy that we have known him for so little a time since he has been out, yet we can't picture our lives without him. He is a sweet baby and already fitting in. At two weeks he has outgrown any newborn clothes and fills out 3 month clothes all too well - i am sure in about a week or 2 he will be moving on to 3-6 month clothes! He is a great nurser and he is nursing about every 2-3 hours (sometimes every hour but not often). he is learning how to go back to sleep at night - still a challenge, but he'll figure it out. He is so strong too - the way he moves his neck and pushes off of us - he really feels more like a 2-3 month old than a newborn. He still has blue eyes and in comparing pictures of him and Bryson, he is fairer than his brother at this point. He loves the moby and he can defintely live without the carseat. Bryson is also calming down quite a bit - he hasn't had a potty accident in 2 days and his tantrums aren't quite so bad and he has been super sweet to his little brother. There has been quite a bit of movie watching for him, but i am trying to give myself a little grace as well - balancing the business and bryson and a newborn is not an easy task and I am trying to go easy on myself. I am so surprised at how we all have adjusted so quickly to all these changes. I am continually amazed by God's design of women and what He has made us capable of!

My sister came over yesterday to give the boys well checks. I am so blessed to have a sister that is a PA (Physician's Assistant) - she was able to check the boys and we have a home chart now - so much easier than going to the dr. office...i have to figure out a way to compensate her...she is so sweet to do that - always answers my calls - better than any pediatrician i could hope for! Both boys checked out well and healthy - we are very thankful.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support and meals. We are loving this time getting to know our sweet little Bodie Owen and can't wait for you all to spend more time with him as well!
