Readying...

pregnancy is the weirdest thing...i can have a day like yesterday where the most productive thing i did all day was put a load of laundry in the dryer...didnt take it out of the dryer mind you...just dried it. i also went to church i guess...but then later i got out of the bath and laid on my bed in my towel for 2 hours because i was so overwhelmingly tired and nauseated....

and then i can have a day like today...where i finished aforementioned laundry and went for a 4 mile walk and ran all my errands and managed to sew up a storm...and its 10:00 pm and i still have energy. so so strange.

so i take what i can get and when i have energy i put it to the test and roll with it! the reason for the sew storm is that friendkidly is in their first craft fair of 2010 -- this Sunday March 14th -  the pink parlour at the Santa Anita race track. if you are looking for something fun to do this weekend in the socal area - stop on by! its family fun day at the race track and there are races going on, plus an arts and craft fair...should be fun! plus we will be there...so...yeah...what other excuse do you need?

i had fun tonight - i sewed up some dopey horsies, which i haven't done for a long time. i actually made them as gifts for a couple of friends coming up. in fact, most everything i made has an intended person - if i sell it then i can make another - if i dont then i am ahead of myself for once!

i also went through one of my fabric bins that i havent opened since we moved...i rediscovered all this great vintage scrap material - which is how i made the horsies and the raggedy-ann and andy shirts. anyway - we are very excited to get out there again and meet some interesting people and get some feedback on the stuff we make - always fun to interact with actual adults...

so hope to see you on Sunday - we will have a table not a booth, so come find us and support handmade!

Legion of Extraordinary Dancers

holy crap! did you see the oscars...they stunk...i am still super super mad that Inglourious Basterds got so dumped...but that is a whole nother rant...i am not happy though....i even growled at one point...and groaned at all the politics seeping out everywhere...so annoying - this is ENTERTAINMENT people!!! but one thing made me very very happy - the dance sequence the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers performed to all the score nominees...did you see it? you will be able to here: www.thelxd.com - you can view their past performances on SYTYCD and at the TED conference...

anyway - i actually heard about this long ago. our friend Iris from college is the production director of the movie. i am so stoked for her - she has busted her booty out here in LA for almost 10 years - i am really hoping this makes it for her...so go see Moments to support Iris...k? oh and also go see it because it looks amazing! you can also view the trailer for the movie on the LXD website - www.thelxd.com

i am beyond excited for this movie...for this collaboration of dance they are doing. it is truly groundbreaking and i think it can bring more contemporary and even classical forms of dance more mainstream...perhaps even more so than SYTYCD...i am not sure the release date - so feel free to comment if you know or if you have heard anything or if you even want to rant about the sucky sucky oscars...or even if you want to tell me how wrong i am and how hurt locker totally deserved it...you could have a point, especially since i didnt even see it...:)

Rebourne Sweater Vest

okay...my boys are golfers. its fine. really. a lifetime of lonely saturday mornings is not that bad. in fact if this one is a boy too (likely) and a golfer (even more likely...boy or girl for that matter) i can look forward to saturday mommy time...in about 5 years...but still...shopping...sewing...reading...ahhhhh....

okay back to reality...laundry and diapers and chasing after this little guy all day. he's a climber. and the tough part is that he is a quiet sneaky one. bryson is loud all the time, so when it got quiet i knew there was trouble brewing...but this one...he is sneaky...i will be doing something and turn around and he is on his knees on the dining room table so happy.

and he loves it outside. he loves golf...i needed to get both of the boys some golf clothes...especially bryson, but bodie should look the part too...so i couldn't resist this upcycled sweater vest by Rebourne. her stuff is so adorable. i love it when people can do what she does...i on the other hand keep a garbage bag of old clothes for months promising i am going to turn them all into something amazing and then get overwhelmed and off they go to the Goodwill.

i also love her wet diaper bag - so much more stylish than my current one - perfect to keep the soiled cloth diapers in when you are out and about!

So check out her shop - support handmade!

The Shark Zoodie

everytime i put this on him i find myself singing..."there was a shark do do dooo do...his name was Bryson...do do dooo do." if you ever went to camp you probably know it...camp cherith? jenny...please confirm...anyway - i was very pleased to see that American Apparel is now selling gray hoodies...opens up a world of animals :)

so along came the shark zoodie. for a boy who likes any sort of dangerous animals: namely dragons and sharks.

He was in quite the mood yesterday though and told me when he first put it on that "its not cool mom, its just that its not cool" so that was my first diss on something i made for him. i told him that he didn't have to like it and that i would give it to someone who thought it was cool and i would make him something else. not mean...just matter of fact and he got all bent. i added the elbow fins and all of the sudden it was cool. he also didn't understand the "holes" in the hood...i showed him a picture of the shark and its gills and then it was cool some more. bryan informed me that the slits should go up and down, instead of diagonal like i did...so sorry my little shark hoodie isn't atomically correct. that will be corrected.

so hope you like it - hope people like it enough to buy it - my biggest seller so far has been the dino zoodie - i like them too because they wash great! you can find them here at our etsy shop Friendkidly

everyone decorates

In case you were curious...this is what happens when you have a house full of boys and you are gone for the day and the biggest Boy cleans...and then decorates...
(This is the view from the guest bath toilet looking across at the wall)

freaky doll hand lady

have you ever been in a class and had a hard time paying attention to the person speaking because the whole time you are obsessing about something about them? like what they are wearing...or their lisp...or the fact that her hands are so freakishly small they remind you of this SNL clip and the whole time you picture Kristen Wiig's freaky forehead on her and maybe you even burst out laughing in the middle of class when nothing funny was said and the whole class looks at you expectantly...no? yeah me either...just wondrin!

Spring Etsy Daydreaming

i find myself on Etsy a lot when i am in the office...umm...working...research i like to call it! anyway - i keep seeing these darling handmade shoes and am thinking my spring wardrobe needs to include a pair since shoes are the one thing that will fit me before and after baby #3....at least i hope after...i hear of some women's feet growing shoe sizes...i think mine have gotten wider...hmmm...well...they'd fit me now anyway. luckily, i am a pretty standard size...

i love Hydraheart...pretty much everything in their shop, but especially these:

And the shop Infusion, she uses upholstery fabric for her shoes:

these are so cute...but can only be worn around the house...but the cutest slippers i've seen! made by LaLa Shoes in linen

and these are in my size! so adorable! by Enamor:

and because we are in a robot phase...and i couldnt resist...these baby shoes from Gracious May:

we're famous

hardly...but when Arwen had a wierd moment on Eric's bag Bryson and i took her in to Long Beach Animal Hospital.

this is why the internet is so dangerous. instead of the ol' "wait n see" approach which has generally served pet owners and parents alike okay over the years...the approach is now replaced with a "google and freak out" approach in which we all pretend that we are Doctors in training and fully competent to pronounce our cat with Dysuria and spend $200 on tests to show that she is actually fine.

anyway...glad she is fine and glad they took a picture of us in their office and put it on their new patients portion of their site...bryson was super excited about it so looks like our $200 was super well spent!
