DIY Varsity Shirt
i was at this festival the other weekend and this dude had on this vintage varsity sweatshirt and i loved it. i looked up some varsity "B"s online and found one in my old high school colors and made a felt one for bryson...i loved how it turned out...he was kinda into it too...which is nice -it is getting trickier and trickier to sew for that boy.
i am into these varsity sweatshirts too...may make some for some b-day presents - i have a bunch of fleece that may be good to use for it as well - but its all very nostalgic and silly to me...i told bryson he lettered in golf and he was like, "oh...awesome!" like he knows what that means, ha!
(i found that plaid fabric in the remnant bin at Jo-anns for couple bucks so i picked it up and made this little handkerchief for bryson out of it...super simple...took all of 5 minutes...it would be a great gift for a fashionable little guy, or gal.)

T-Shirt Fun - Summer Style
we recently had a little summer shopping spree at H&M. I love their boys' stuff...especially their shorts and pants, but i can never resist some of their cute Ts for $5...they are made very well too and hold up...some of ours have held up to 3 boys...3 very dirty and hard playing boys!
so i wanted to add a little something to the shirts...especially the white one, because without anything on it, all you will see is all kinds of stains...i would have never gotten white, but it came in a 2 pack with the green stripe one below and bryson "weally weally wanted it, mom! its green! my favorite color!"
i let the boys "help" in that they got to pick what went on the shirts and the colors...i would normally let Bryson do more, but we were in a time crunch and i had all 3 boys and bobby may have picked up a paint bottle and sucked it...i doubt he got any...but still...it had to be quick.
bodie was very adamant that he wanted a green "airpane gotcher" (i think he says airplane helicopter, but not entirely sure of that). and bryson wanted all the different colors of planes. when i started i realized (with the green one) i realized i did it upside down...so i had to be a little creative...woops!
the caterpillar shirt was also bryson's idea...so cute! he made his teacher put a caterpillar in a yogurt can with foil on top last week...speaking of which...where did that go? so he has had caterpillar on the brain a little bit.

i told him to pose...i honestly don't know where this came from. these shorts are also from H&M - we got them last year and they finally fit him this year!
this was the best shot i could get of the little booger in his shirt. he kept pulling it out to look at the airplane and tracing his finger along the dashes...so cute!

crafting shirts
but today i had to pick some stuff up at target and needed to get Bodie some long sleeve shirts since he only has 2 right now (i guess bryson wasn't wearing 2T during the winter months) and they were all so blah and boring.
i usually only think to add embellishments to plain shirts, but recently am liking the idea of graphics on striped shirts so i picked up a couple and had some free time - free as in bryson was playing outside, bodie was in his high chair with markers and paper and bobby was in the bouncy chair next to me (i love what my free time now consists of)
if you look at my notes in high school and college you will find all sorts of doodles in the margins...my hand have constantly always needed something to do, which is why i think knitting is so fun for me...anyway - i just relied on my doodles to make some shirts for bodie today and am quite pleased with how they turned out - so much more fun than the plain ol' striped shirts, no?
so i decided to take some of my doodles and doodle a shirt or two.
they are so so simple...and not even blog-worthy other than to encourage you to just add a little home-made to something store bought and make it a little more special!

The Target Shirt Re-Do
one day getting ready for church i noticed Bodie had a severe lack of collared shirts so next time i was at Target i picked up this green button down for him.
it wasnt until i already put it on him that i realized it had this severely lame "aloha" on the back...i had already taken the tags off and Bodie had already claimed it his own with the power of drool, so i began looking for a cover-up....
enter Bryson's old star wars sheet i found whilst thrifting. now this shirt is supremely rad and one of my favorites. it took 5 minutes - no heat n' bond even...just sewed it right on there...
too bad Bodie does not even know how cool he is...good thing he has an older brother to school him on this...let the

crafting shirts
i realize that bryson needs to be active early and focused on something, or else our day sees more chaos and fights and bad attitudes than is warranted. but if i get him out of the house and active and on a mission, we can have a seamless day. i think i have known this about him since he was 18 months and we started going to the park every day...every day...at 9:30...every day....or else. it hasnt changed.
so today was a pretty amazing day - i got to clear my head and mind and also create with BOTH my boys. how fun! Bryson was experimenting with mixing colors and creating his own names for them and Bodie experimented with tasting paint and getting marker everywhere. fun times.
the bike shirt is Bodie's and the ant shirt is Bryson's. this is Bryson saying..."i think the ants are looking for dirt. they like to eat dirt." i told him they like sweet things, "no, i think they like dirt" whatever!
these are my favorite tees at the moment - American Apparel's tri-blend tee (polyester, cotton & rayon) - it is so super soft...like a thrifted tee...love them...
i guess he is saluting here? not sure...but at least you can see the little strawberry on the sleeve the ants are going for? i thought this shirt would be so BOY, but it kinda looks girly to me too? its transgender...
