so finally...i got one! i needed to...what with my boy growing so much and what with this baby on his heels - i will have 2 clothed bums and i dont even want to think about the laundry...i dont know why i am constantly surprised by the amount of laundry boys go through...you would think i'd be over it by now, but no - its craziness...there are hardly any days where we can NOT wash an item of their clothing...and i will look at their clothes at the end of the day like, "what? when did you drink a dirt shake?" what was i talking about again? oh yes...diapers...right...so...specifically i was going to review the Fuzzi Bunz one-size pocket cloth diapers. this is a sort of follow up to my Cloth Diaper Review - in case you never read it...
in short - i love them! I am going to order 6 of them soon, and probably 6 more after baby comes because i will be that lazy with the laundry :)
in long - here is the scoop on them. first the negative: they are the same size (well actually a tad narrower) than the fuzzi bunz original medium and quite a bit smaller than the fuzzi bunz large (which Bodie being 26 lbs now wears - but he can also still fit the medium as well). i would have wished them to be a bit longer and wider to start...its not a problem now, but if this boy continues on his growth nonsense then he will be wearing a towel with some pins...
so here is the one size fuzzi bunz on top of a fuzzi bunz size LARGE you can see the difference...
here is the fuzzi bunz one size (far right) next to (from left) a fuzzi bunz size MED and a Bum Genius One Size Diaper (of which they are about the same size as well)
so for the positive - i am really impressed with the diaper...if one can say that with passion i believe i just did...i definitely prefer it over the bum genius and over the old school fuzzi bunz...mainly for their beautiful insert...they are amazing...they hold like one more pee than the rest...thats exciting people! anyway - hope this helps make up some of your minds...please feel free to comment as always and email if you have anything to add!

Your timing couldn't have been better! I just emailed 4 friends who use BumGenius (seriously, literally, every person I know who uses cloth uses BG) and should've emailed you, too! I am in the process of determining which dipes for #2. We went "bare bones" with Greta - just prefolds in a prowrap cover. I am especially interested in your comparison between the BG and the FuzziBunz, particularly as I don't know anything about the FB. Did you find a problem w the poo getting into the pocket part of the BG? Did you have the 3.0 version or earlier? (They may have improved that on the 3.0 - not sure though. It's a complaint I've heard about BG) from your pics it looks like the Fuzzi Bunz also adjust with the snaps on the outside, like the BG, but ALSO with the inside elastic??? How do you like that? What stuffers do you use? And have you taken a look at the Flip (by BumGenius) and any thoughts on those? That's more like what I had w Greta and was happy enough. Seems like those could be more trim under clothing. Anyways, that's a lot of questions and a very long comment. And yes, I do expect you to answer each and every one of them. ;) Plus any further info you think might be helpful!! Thanks, chica!

I would LOVE to answer all your questions…I wish I had someone to do it before I bought like every pocket cloth diaper made! Seriously – he has so many different brands its dumb – I could have saved a lot more if I would have bought in bundles! This is the thing with the BG – the Velcro is great (especially right now because Bodie is so squiggly when I try to change his diaper and the snaps take a second or two more time, but that is crucial you know!) but the Velcro is not so great over time. You have to be real careful when you wash them that the tabs are on the diaper and that nothing else gets washed (i.e. disposable wipes) when you wash them or else it compromises the velcro. They can be a bit of a pain when you wash them. Even when I am careful about sticking the Velcro to the tabs sometimes they come off and they form a big diaper chain in the wash and that compromises the wash because they get all bundled up. I have used the BG non-stop for 3 years and they are just now starting to become not so sticky…so there is that – the good and bad of it…
I have never had a problem with poo getting in the pocket. I would say that the BG isn’t as elasticky as the FB and so I have had more leakage issues with the BG – but it doesn’t happen much…I think the FB has a better insert…like I said – its like it handles one more pee!
I don’t know what version of the BG I have – I bought them 3 years ago…so it must be an earlier version? So I cant speak for the newer versions…maybe they fixed some of these issues?
I love how these new one-size FB adjust…they fit great! I use the insert that comes with FB – I have also tried about 10 different inserts…FB is the best by far in my opinion! I should do a post comparing the inserts because you can just tell from the looks of it that they are good! I have also tried bamboo, hemp, and other materials – FB holds the most.
I have never heard of the flip…I just looked them up and by the looks of them they seem similar to the G diapers you can get at Whole Foods. The concept is great, but I don’t know much about them. From what I hear from mamas who have used the G diaper with a cotton insert – they have to wash the insert a lot because of leaks…especially if its poopy…but I cant speak for it because I’ve only regularly used pocket diapers…
And the trim can be a concern…Bodie has to wear a bigger size pant always because of it…I cuff a lot…and I guess that can be an issue with a girl but like I said – I have never used them, so don’t know how much trimmer they would be – I don’t know how big their insert is…
Hope that helps…if I were you I would just buy a boatload of the FB one size…I guarantee you will be happy! I don’t know what I can guarantee with…but they make me happy! So happy that I try not to put them on him if I think he is going to poop…they are that precious to me
