yeah...me neither. I remember a couple years ago a girlfriend (whose youngest was three at the time) was telling me how she can leave her sewing machine out and finish projects throughout the week without worrying about her girls messing with it. I remember staring wide eyed and thinking how dreamy and wondering how long that would take my boys. Well...I am still not there...but I do see a light. I can leave it for a few minutes anyway.
I have been itching to sew and have had this fabric I got on sale somewhere...probably years ago...i have piles of fabrics for piles of projects that I should really just give up, but part of me somewhere sees that light at the end of the kids destroying my sewing projects tunnel....
I really just threw this together...no pattern...just trial and error...i really like how it turned out, but if i made another one, there is a lot I would do different, but this totally works and I will totally wear it, so yay! second piece of clothing I successfully sewed for myself!
I first cut three very long (didn't measure) strips of the jersey about 1" thick and braided. That became my halter and is what brought it together. I am thinking of doing more and sewing it around the bodice, but I also like the bodice how it is...it feels like me...the haphazard sewing together (the last picture shows a better detail). The rest I just kind of made up as I went along. You really don't want to know anyway - it would probably scare some of you who actually know how to sew...It was a satisfying project since it only took a couple hours and since I am now wearing it. I may or may not finish the bottom - that is the beauty with working with jersey!
